What exactly is Teeth Whitening?
Teeth whitening is the preferred way to restore your smile's natural brightness by removing stains and yellowing. The basic active ingredient in all teeth whitening methods is peroxide, either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide.
Oxygen molecules are very volatile in these peroxides. In contact with your enamel, these stains "snap" the molecular bonds that hold the stains in the pores of your teeth. By bleaching your teeth, you remove stains and restore the naturally bright appearance of your enamel.
What is the Teeth Whitening process?
Dr. Chase Alexander will apply a special liquid protectant to your gums to begin the procedure. Using retractors, he will separate your cheeks and tongue from your teeth. After that, a high-performance medical grade whitening solution will be applied. A special LED light appliance is used to activate the gel and speed up the whitening process.
After 15 minutes, the gel is rinsed off. It takes 45 minutes to whiten your teeth three times, so you'll spend a total of 45 minutes. Once the treatment is complete, your doctor will apply a special gel to protect your teeth, and you will be sent home to enjoy your bright new smile.
